First Lutheran Church / Universal Surveillance Systems Sponsored Spaghetti Dinner for Ontario Homeless a Success - 12 Dec 2008
USS Funded Meal for Local Inland Empire Homeless Families at Ontario’s First Lutheran Church in Support of Ongoing Homeless Outreach Efforts
Rancho Cucamonga, CA, December 12, 2008 – A special First Lutheran “Loaves and Fishes” holiday meal was sponsored by Universal Surveillance Systems (USS) last night at the First Lutheran Church of Ontario from 6:00 to 8:00pm. First Lutheran’s “Loaves and Fishes” program provides meals to those that are hungry in the Ontario, California area. Pastor Agapito Aviles (a.k.a. Pastor “Augie”) heads up Mariposa Community Services, Inc., which is a council of churches within a five mile radius of First Lutheran Church. Each church takes a turn in providing a meal for Ontario’s homeless families. The number of homeless has recently spiked upward in conjunction with our faltering economy. In addition to providing the food for this special holiday event, USS employees also organized the evening and donated their own money to provide toys wrapped by USS staff for all children in attendance. Santa Claus himself delivered the toys at the event. A splendid time was had by all of the kids and many remarked on their “cool” presents.
“We are very grateful that the USS company generously provided a meal and holiday party for our local homeless families,” Pastor Augie declared. “The extra effort and generosity of providing gifts for the children really lifted the spirits of these unfortunate members of our community. The Loaves and Fishes program, in which we work with other churches in this section of Ontario, has been feeding members of our community for the past four years. Unfortunately, the homeless problem has gotten worse recently. Any time that an organization outside of our Loaves and Fishes partner churches contributes to our cause, it makes a tremendously positive impact. Not only do we feed families that night but we also conserve our resources for future meals. I hope that this encourages other members of our community to get involved. Every contribution is meaningful and urgently needed. Our thanks go out to USS and its staff for its time, support and generosity. This event is certain to be a highlight of the Christmas season for the families that attended.”
